Edmonton Power Movement Camp August 1-2, 2020

This camp is designed to improve your ability to move around the crease. As goaltending is a movement-based position, the ability to skate is extremely important. All of our realistic skating patterns used in game situations will be performed in a crease, as opposed to using lines and circles on the ice. We want our goaltenders to build skills that will directly translate into games and help them win games. Skills that will be taught and worked on will be proper stance while facing a shot, proper stance on the post, moving with your head first, lead side focus (focusing on moving in one direction), path of direction (moving through the crease), the difference between soft focus and hard focus and when to use each, T-pushes, stopping hard on one foot, shuffles, covering the short side when coming off the post, butterflies, butterfly recoveries, slides, inside edge pushes, post leans, post lean recoveries with the lead leg, tracking the puck behind the net, and skating patterns used for handling the puck. Although there will be no pucks, save execution and puck handling will still be a focus as maintaining your balance and the ability to stay in control while executing butterfly saves comes from masterful technique.
