ON ICE: Goaltenders are placed at stations with goaltenders of similar age and skill level to push each other at a good pace. We will be on the ice for 3 hours per day, working with experienced coaches and Midget AAA/Jr level shooters. Facing shots every ice session from start to finish is an important feature of our camps. We work progressively through the week building skill with a strong foundation and technique. Our team is committed to teaching the game in the right order. Our development path works through skating and movement, angles and positioning, rebound control, save selection, save technique, and playing a structured, simple system to help you stop more pucks and be a more effective goaltender. At each station there will be 1 coach, 2 shooters, and an iPad filming every drill. Our sessions are run with a quick demonstration of a drill, and then all goaltenders will go to their nets and perform that drill for 15 minutes. This way the entire group can move through drills together and progress as a group. Our biggest focus is not putting a limit on how much the goaltenders can improve in one week. We are able to adjust our drills to either slow down to pull the goaltenders up to the level we want them at, or keep pushing the pace of the drills and progressions to see how far we can take the group.
VIDEO ANALYSIS: Our video analysis package provides the goaltender with all the clips of them in the net during the camp. This is an excellent tool to help goaltenders as they learn what they look like when they are doing something well, and what they look like and how they feel when they make a mistake. A lot of goaltenders make the mistake of thinking their game is perfect, but through video and self-evaluation and critique, they are able to pinpoint areas of needed improvement. From there, they are able to grow immensely as athletes and people. This is also an excellent option for the kids to remember the positive experience they had at the camp and the excitement they had during the camp.
